WYRE FOREST DISTRICT COUNCIL
ANNUAL REPORT OF ACTIVITIES 2009/2010
COUNCILLOR: Malcolm Hazlewood
WARD: Wolverley
Section 1: Ward Activities:
I am involved with several activities within the community and am available for counselling at any time. As such I do not tend to hold dedicated surgeries. I have involvement with Wolverley Memorial Hall as a Committee Member (currently Vice-Chairman). I also serve on the local Wolverley & Cookley PACT Committee. I am a member of the Wolverley Flood Action Group which is a sub committee of the Wolverley & Cookley Parish Council. Also I am a co-ordinator for the Kingsford leg of the Neighbourhood Watch Scheme. With the issues surrounding the traffic problems in Wolverley Village I became a member of Friends of Wolverley Group which is a representative group from within the village of Wolverley dedicated to resolving the serious traffic congestion experienced in the village during school term time. I am a regular attendee of the Wolverley TCC and the estate walkabout. More locally I am the Chairman of the Kinverdale Residents' Association which we have formed to maintain the rights of the residents of this Mobile Home Park.
Section 2: Council Meetings:
Community and Regeneration Scrutiny Committee, Council, Local Development Framework Core Strategy Review Panel.
Section 3: Achievements:
Following the devastation caused by the floods there was a fund made available to assist residents who suffered but I took the initiative to ensure their property was protected to a higher level. I did my best to identify and obtain some financial support for these residents. There are in the ward I represent, particularly in my immediate locality, a number of residents who are of a great age. As such they tend to require a little extra support. This I endeavour to provide for them either by guidance or sometimes physical support.
Section 4: Special Knowledge:
Having been a member of the District Council for almost seven years, I have been fortunate to receive training in many aspects required to participate in local government building up a knowledge of planning legislation, economics in respect of setting budgets and also forward planning for the economic wellbeing of the area.
