WYRE FOREST DISTRICT COUNCIL
ANNUAL REPORT OF ACTIVITIES 2007/08

COUNCILLOR ANNE HINGLEY

WARD - Franche

Activities

Residents of Franche Ward re-elected me in May 2007 to represent them on Wyre Forest District Council for a further term of office. I appreciate and thank them for their vote of confidence in me.

Through Partnership and Community Together (PACT) meetings worked with Community Police Officers and other Agencies on issues brought to Councillors attention at these bi-monthly meetings in Franche Community School, Chestnut Grove.

I have initiated Community Safety Meetings between Councillors and Council and Community Officers in dealing with vandalism affecting in particular White Wickets Sports Area and Youth Shelter.

Secured new fencing around The Bowling Green, and Contractors have now been appointed to put in place the Multi Use Games Area.

I have attended Tenant and Consultative meetings and walkabouts with Wyre Forest Community Housing Officers and tenants.

Following four years of communication with Worcestershire Highways regarding the condition of road surfaces in Franche, the re-surfacing of roads in Marlpool and Ferndale areas has commenced, however there is still more to do in the next financial year.

Trustee of ASHA Wyre Forest – a charity who gives hope in developing the skills of women who are disadvantaged socially and economically and which helps them to find confidence and ability through courses to participate fully in community life.

Trustee of Wyre Forest Nightstop and Mediation – established in 2004 to provide emergency accommodation for young homeless people between 16 and 25.

With my fellow councillors, I conducted a Bus Stop Audit for Worcestershire County Council in October 2007.
