WYRE FOREST DISTRICT COUNCIL
ANNUAL REPORT OF ACTIVITIES 2009/10
COUNCILLOR: Dixon Sheppard
WARD: Lickhill

Section 1: Ward Activities (including Surgeries)

I am an active member of the Lickhill and Mitton Partners and Communities Together (PACT) Panel plus the Stourport High School PACT which deals with numerous queries/complaints from local residents. I also answer similar questions over the telephone dealing with anything from increases in Housing Association service charges to vandalism on local allotments. I take a keen interest and serve on the Committee of Campaign Action Newtown (CAN) providing youth services as well as being the Council's representative on Stourport Social Day Centre Management Committee. I continue to campaign for dedicated coach parking spaces on the car parks below the Stourport Civic Centre to aid trade and tourism to the town / historic canal basins. I am also an active member of Stourport Town Centre Forum.

Section 2: Council Meetings

Community & Regeneration Scrutiny Committee, Council, Kidderminster Educational Foundation, Licensing & Environmental Committee, Miscellaneous Functions and Parking Review Panel.

Section 3: Achievements

Lickhill Primary School
I actively campaigned for the retention of this valued community school, recognising that the town needed both Stourport and Lickhill Primary schools to meet future educational needs and avoid local children being unable to attend local schools in the future.

I have also been very honoured to have been elected Deputy Mayor of Stourport and having the opportunity of meeting many new people both living in the town and wider Worcestershire.

Section 4: Special Knowledge

My working lifetime experience of Financial Services and Insurance has been useful at times together with my knowledge of the Wyre Forest District Council rural areas and Worcestershire in general, gained through walking and my active membership of the Ramblers.

Section 5: Attendance Percentage for 2009/10
84%.
