Notes:
ANNUAL REPORT OF ACTIVITIES 2010/11
Ward Activities this year, including outside bodies:
Within the last 12 months, I have attended to numerous problems within the Areley Kings area and attended most PACT (Partners and Communities Together) meetings and Tenants Consultative Committee (TCC) Meetings. I work with the police, Community Housing Officers and school staff to make our area a better place to live.
Some of the main problems I have encountered have to remain confidential but complaints about illegal fly tipping continue to grow and I do feel it will get more prolific unless new efforts are made to control it.
With the help of my County Council colleagues, we have continued our efforts to control speeding on the Dunley Road and Areley Common, with a limited amount of success.
Highlights:
My main highlight of the year was the closing of the Larford Concrete Works (near the Environment Agency) to the illegal dumping of thousands of scrap tyres. Thus removing the possibility of people on the Walshes Estate having to leave their home if the tyres had been set on fire, and also the risk of pollution into the River Severn.
My other highlight was being made Leader of our Independent Community & Health Concern party.
Special Knowledge:
My skills and experience are of running private companies with other partners and directors and also as an engineer. I have experienced three heart attacks, one cardiac arrest and a triple by pass, so I know and feel for people with health problems and how important our health is to us.
Attendance Percentage for 2010/11
97% (subject to the Sports & Leisure Centre Review Panel meeting to be held on 17th May 2011).
