ANNUAL REPORT OF ACTIVITIES 2010/11
Ward Activities this year, including outside bodies:
I have used my locally determined funding from Worcestershire County Council and gave £4,500 to Youth Café Bewdley. I have also raised £2,700 to put purpose built vegetable planters into all the primary schools in my ward. I have spent a long time negotiating with the County Council and the residents of Severn Bank Park (private road) for 2 grit bins to be installed and agreed with the quarry to fill them with grit at the cost of £150 each time which they are doing free of charge. I have also negotiated with the County Council, after extensive culvert works in Wribbenhall, to rebuild the sand stone wall at their expense. After long and drawn out negotiations with Worcestershire County Council I had Station Road resurfaced in Bewdley. I also had the repainting of road markings from Canterbury Road down through the severe bends to Habberley Valley. I have regular drop in surgeries at All Saints Church, Wribbenhall and deliver newsletters to my residents to keep them updated on issues I have addressed.
I have used my County Council Highways money and gave £1,800 to one of my parishes and £1,200 to the other parish to enhance what the lengthsman get from the County as they do such a good job in the parishes.
Wyre Forest Community Housing have resurfaced large areas of the road in Vally Close, Lower Habberley.
Highlights:
The highlight of this year has been being Chairman of Wyre Forest District Council.
I have attended many varied functions and have particularly enjoyed attending the concerts at the Town Hall.
We have also had a visit by HRH Duke of Kent.
Special Knowledge:
I was a central heating engineer and I have worked in the building trade for many years. This experience helps me with my role on the Planning Committee both at the District and County.
