ANNUAL REPORT OF ACTIVITIES 2009/10
COUNCILLOR: Ken Prosser
WARD: Habberley & Blakebrook
Section 1: Ward Activities (including Surgeries)
During this year as a District Councillor, I have worked closely with County Councillors for St Johns and St Barnabas, since it seems that teamwork always helps, when problems arise. Both of my County colleagues, and other District Councillors have given me support which has been encouraging. Some issues are ongoing such as the Pershore Road Triangles and some seemingly insolvable, for instance potholes. I am very pleased that a large percentage of roads in the Ward are in much better condition thanks to the pressure placed on Highways to address local highway issues. Nevertheless, much still needs to be done, but as ever cost is a major factor.
I have addressed a wide range of issues raised by local residents over the last year and I have communicated regularly via newsletters across the ward.
I look forward to the challenges the next municipal year will present.
I have held meetings with residents as and when required.
Section 2: Council Meetings
Community & Regeneration Scrutiny Committee – it is interesting to see how much is attempted, but the current recession hasn't helped with achievements. Straw polls indicate to me that Kidderminster attracts many visitors for shopping and they are then drawn into the wider attractions of Bewdley, Stourport and beyond to rural areas of the Wyre Forest. Most do so because it is a pleasant experience.
